Cabinetmaker/Millwork
Cabinetmakers and millworkers perform specialized and customized woodwork, such as creating cabinetry, display and exhibit work, moldings, panels, furniture and décor found in shopping malls, banks, hotels and office buildings. Working from blueprints and architectural designs, they cut, shape and assemble wood products and work with metal, plastics and glass when fabricating store fixtures.
These craftspeople enjoy working with their hands, and often work with the finest tools and materials available. Cabinetmakers and millworkers operate a variety of machines, including power saws, planers, joiners and shapers, and typically spend their workday in a shop or large plant. Safety is of utmost importance because of the machinery, tools, materials and equipment they work with each day.
