The Apprenticeship Program

It doesn't feel like a job or work.

Skilled, apprenticeship program graduates enjoy top jobs, earn competitive pay and benefits, and are considered by employers to be among the best and brightest in their fields.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, more than 550,000 skilled workers will be needed in the United States by the year 2008.

The Northeast Ohio Carpenters’ Joint Apprenticeship and Training Program offers one of the top carpenter apprenticeship programs in the nation. More than 900 apprentices are enrolled in the four-year program, offered at no cost to the apprentice. A joint committee made up of union members and signatory contractors oversee the apprenticeship program.

Benefits of the Carpenters' Apprenticeship Program

Memo From the Job Site
Penny C.
Floor Covering Apprentice

After spending years as an account executive in a suburban office, Penny decided to follow in her father's footsteps as a carpenter.

“It doesn’t feel like a job or work. I’m enjoying earning a living. It’s the best move I’ve ever made.

There’s also the benefits…knowing that I have a pension has given me a comfortable feeling knowing that I am financially secure. My only regret is that I didn’t start sooner.

In our disposable world, lots of things don’t last. But in our industry, you’re the one putting in your knowledge, pride, heart and soul. What we produce is made to last. You can sit back and be proud of it.”
